Dinis Rebelo
February 8, 1928 - January 14, 2016
Dinis Rebelo, dedicated father, grandfather and husband, passed away in his sleep on January 14th, 2016 at the age of 87.
Dinis immigrated to Canada in 1954, travelling from Pier 21 in Halifax to Kitimat BC, working on the railroad and learning English. He went back to Portugal to marry the love of his life, Micaela Amaral. Afterwards he settled his family in Manitouwadge, raising his four children to be resilient and hardy souls.
Dinis’s commitment to church and family defined his life.
He will be missed by his children, Helena Rebelo, David Rebelo (Monica Tran), John Rebelo, Josefina Brooke (Andrew Brooke) and his grand-children Mikaela Lefaive (Jean-François Robitaille), Alicia Rocheleau (Catherine Rocheleau), Geneviève Lefaive, Priscilla Rebelo, Nathanael Rebelo and Owen Brooke.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Church on Monday January 18th, at 10 a.m.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Georgian Manor for their support and kindness. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Simcoe County.
