CASCAGNETTE, Henry William, August 23, 1935 - January 11, 2016

On Monday, January 11th, 2016, Bill Cascagnette passed away peacefully at Scarborough General Hospital surrounded by his family and immersed in love. His greatest achievement was his family. Bill was always a supportive, dedicated, and interested husband, father, and friend to many and always love to lighten the mood. Throughout his life, and even at age 80, idle moments were rare as his constant drive to finish a project, solve problems, and help others kept him busy. Beloved husband of Elizabeth (Betty) (nee Sajgalik) of 54 years. Loving father of Laura, Diane Miller (Tony), Joe (Alison), and Brenda Dolenc. Always playful and joking Papa or Papere to Jacob, Peter, and Rachel Cascagnette, Jenna and Brooke Miller, and Luke and Allie Dolenc. Dear brother of Bob, Annette, and Linda and predeceased by sister Elaine and brother Jim and parents Dominique and Felanise.

Bill started his journey away from home on ships that sailed the Great Lakes of Ontario. If you were lucky enough he would tell a story or two about those journeys on the water. On the lakes he grew up quickly, became wise beyond his years, and learned life wasn’t easy. He learned the value of education, respect those around you, and to work hard if you wanted anything in life - many valuable skills he passed on to his kids and grandkids. These skills were foundational for the next big journey of his life, an impeccable career with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP). This led to a long and successful career of 27 years. The friendships created and troop-mates were life lasting and strong. Upon retirement from the RCMP he worked 10 years for the Ontario Securities Commission using his clever wisdom, police force knowledge and work ethic to unravel many complex cases. Through it all, somehow, he managed to keep a witty sense of humour that made everyone laugh, teach a lesson “did you learn anything?,” build a cottage, maintain constant renovations on his house, as well as, his daughter’s and son’s, and devote time and commitment to friends and family. He loved his woodworking shop and made many cherished, well crafted pieces of furniture, toys, and trinkets for family and friends. You knew it was built with love and true craftsmanship when it was branded with “Dad Cascagnette.” He will be missed dearly by his family and friends.
“Beep Beep!” and “LOL” (Lots of Love)

Penetanguishene Funeral Home
Friday, January 15th - visitation afternoon 2-4pm and 7-9pm
Saturday, January 16th - memorial service 11am, Fr Tony
155 Main Street, Penetanguishene, ON, L9M 1L7
(705) 549-3155

Tiny Township Community Centre
Celebration of Life (near Perkinsfield) - Saturday, January 16, 2016
1:00-4:00pm
91 Concession Rd 8 E, Tiny, ON L0L 2J0
(705) 526-4204

Donation
If desired, donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Diabetes Association would be appreciated.
